Medieval Stress Relief for Women

As if being a medieval woman wasn't stressful enough, this time of year adds a whole new dimension to stress for the modern woman too. The medieval woman was already considered to be filled with bilious humours, which was never a good start.
The rather surprising thing about some medieval remedies, is that sometimes they really overstate the obvious. The health handbook, the Tacuinum Sanitatus, offered a number of herbal remedies for common complaints, including stress.
In this case, "stop and smell the flowers" is quite literally the recommended cure for frenzy.
It had the added benefit of dealing with those pesky humours which constantly plagued the medieval woman and her health.
To avoid this, make sure you stop and smell the flowers, not just this season, but all year round.
